Hurt Locker Question

Q1. Explain two ways the characters and/or events fits the action adventure genre.

One way which it fits the action adventure genre is by the characters in the extract, the person reveals a bomb and they are usually in action adventure films because they portray danger as they are able to cause serious damage, and how the characters react as they act cautiously and quickly at reacting which fits the genre because it's very fast pace. This is shown as the moment when the bomb is revealed and they draw the guns at him quickly as it presents a threat to them, and also makes it so that they position in a defensive way.
Another way that it is show is through the events/characters in the area which they are in. It shows damaged dust buildings which maybe like that due to the events which has taken place which explosives and gunfire. This shown when they show an establishing shot of the setting and it shows the ruined buildings from the war which is taking place. Also near the end of the extract it shows people running for cover and this also shows that there is danger with fits the action adventure genre.

Q2. Explain how each of the following creates effect.

Soundtrack:
The fact that they grip the guns very tightly shows how the tension is building, thinking that he is going to shoot. Shouting intensifies the situation and makes the audience more interested in what will happen next. Explosions which creates fear because it makes them feel surround and isolated by the explosion

Editing:
It is edited in different sections. The editing used when the bomb detonates at the end of the extract shows it to be very devastating as the explosion used is really big, and this is another way of showing the intensity of the extract.
mise-en-scene:
The guy with the bomb strapped to him is asking for help as he says, ‘Help me I’m a family man’. And this will make the audience think  All of the soldiers are using guns which tells them that this maybe a dangerous situation. The setting looks like it is in an empty town, this could be because of the atmosphere which is going on around peoples home. They lighting used shows that it's a sunny place suggesting it's a place which fit the theme of war due to real life situations
Camera work:
Around the start of the extract it shows an establishing shot which shows the setting and can tell the audience what may happen based on the setting. They use close up shots on their face and body shots to show what they are wearing and how bad they situation might be as it shows a shot of him wearing a bomb disposal suit. It also shows eye level shots of the army people.

Q3. Discuss the way that people are presented in the extract.

The characters are presented by how they talk to each other, as every person shouts and this causes problems between each  other. Also military people have weapons and have body armour to keep their selves protected and to keep their team protected from enemies. The setting is in a street where people are looking out of their windows. People in reality look out of their windows when there is shouting/banging or shooting. People are represented in all types of different ways during this extract. There nationality may represent the type of people that may watch this. and also tells me what type of audience my like to watch this.
